Disaster Education and Response Program
The American Red Cross of Ventura County responds to local disasters, such as house fires and major disasters, such as earthquakes.  After completing basic level training, youth volunteers can help by assisting in shelters with registration, childcare, feeding disaster victims, and more.
In addition, with further free training American Red Cross Club members can become apart of the Community Disaster Education Team and be able to present community disaster preparedness presentations to their community.
Health & Safety Education Program
American Red Cross Club members have the opportunity to instruct elementary school children in 6 areas of Safety Awareness during a one day event called Safe Kids Day. During this event club members teach home alone skills, water safety, baby-sitting, disaster preparedness, how to respond to a person who is choking and how to perform rescue breathing.
American Red Cross Club members can also take first aid, CPR, water safety, life guarding, babysitting classes as well as, participate in special events such as health & safety fairs and youth education workshops.
International Services
American Red Cross Club members can help students throughout the world by coordinating the assembly of a school chest.  School chests are shipped to countries ravaged by war or disaster working to rebuild their educational programs. American Red Cross Club members can also participate in International Red Cross Humanitarian Campaigns, such as international humanitarian law outreach. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in international letter writing with other Red Cross representatives throughout the world. In addition, American Red Cross Clubs can participate in the Measles Initiative, a critical campaign in the fight against the preventable deadly disease. For each dollar that a club member raises through selling a measles pin, one child can receive a measles vaccination. For more information on this campaign check out the link below!
