General Support: Office Squad
Description: We can't respond to emergencies, teach potentially life-saving skills, and develop stronger communities without the support of our Office Squad! Support daily chapter operations with a variety of administrative tasks that may include front-desk reception, data-entry, filing, archiving, supply inventory/maintenance, and other basic but critical functions.  Opportunities exist in all of our departments and can therefore be adjusted to suit your unique talents and skills.  This is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience!
Location: Various American Red Cross of Ventura County locations.


Armed Forces Emergency Services: Canteen Team
Description: Join the Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) Canteen Team.
Provide drinks and snacks to military personnel prior to deployment and/or military families and friends awaiting return of their loved ones. Help set-up, maintain and breakdown the food, drinks, supplies and equipment. It’s a convenient way to volunteer when you only have a couple of hours to give and a great way to help your community.
Location: Ventura office & NBVC: Pt. Hueneme & Pt. Mugu.


Disaster Services: Community Disaster Education (CDE) Presenter
Description: Be Red Cross Ready!  Each year, the American Red Cross responds to more than 67,000 disasters, including house of apartment fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous material spills, transportation accidents and other natural or human-caused disasters. Become a trained presenter who will educate others in disaster preparedness.  Presentations are scheduled throughout the county to various companies, faith-based organizations, civic groups, and other local entities. 
Location: Throughout Ventura County.


Disaster Services: Disaster Action Team (DAT) Member
Description: Respond to local disaster (fires, floods, mudslides, etc.) throughout Ventura County in order to assess damage and determine immediate disaster-caused needs and provide assistance (food, clothing, and shelter) to clients.  Initial and on-going training is provided. Monthly meetings are held for information and team-building. Supervisory and leadership opportunities are also available.

Location: Throughout Ventura County


Health & Safety: Community Event Coordinator
Description: Help coordinate the different event that we are invited to host a booth at.  Collaborate with the requesting agency, recruit and schedule volunteers, and organize, maintain and prepare supplies.  Training will be provided.
Location: Ventura office. Potential to perform some tasks outside the office after initial training period.
 


Health & Safety: Community Event Staff
Description: Help staff our booths at the numerous community events we participate in.  Provide the public with information about our services and sell Red Cross resale items: first aid kits, emergency kits, etc.  No experience is necessary. This is a convenient way to volunteer when you only have a couple of hours to give on an infrequent basis.
Location: Throughout Ventura County


Health & Safety: Instructor
Description: Teach potentially life-saving skills such as First Aid, CPR and AED to a wide range of individuals from around the county. Candidates who successfully complete the required training can begin teaching right away. Instructor certification will be valid for one year, but is renewable for an additional period of time depending on activity. Fees for training will be reimbursed for those who teach three classes within six months.
Location: Throughout Ventura County


Health & Safety: Equipment Courier
Description: Deliver and/or pick-up equipment using chapter vehicles to predetermined location around the county.  This is a great opportunity for one person who enjoys "solo" time, or a two-buddy team to work together. Training will be provided by department staff including one ride-along to learn route and destinations.

Location: Shift begins at our Ventura office and travels throughout the county.

Health & Safety: Training Support
Description:
Join our Health & Safety department and ensure a strong training program.  Provide basic customer service roles such as course registration, product sales, data-entry of customer records, file management, and other basic logistical and administrative tasks.
Location: Ventura office.


Volunteer Resources: Volunteer Resources Coordinator
Description: Support the Volunteer Resources unit by helping to recruit, place and recognize new and active volunteers and be a resource for other chapter departments on aspects of volunteerism. Tasks may include responding to volunteer inquiries, record management, assisting with internal planning, and helping with basic administrative functions. Potential for participation in external meetings and/or facilitation of regularly scheduled Volunteer Orientations.
Location: Ventura (primary), but with potential for alternate site after initial training period.


Youth Services: Project Coordinator
Description: Work in partnership with our Youth Services Program Coordinator to ensure full support or our local high school and college clubs and our student volunteers.  Daytime activities include working with club leadership on organizing student-led service projects, inventory and maintenance of supplies and various administrative duties. Weekend activities include attendance/site visits at service projects or special events.
Location: Ventura office (primary), but may be able to volunteer from alternate location after initial training phase.
