| Strategic Plan 2003-2007 | | |
The value of the chapter-wide plan is in its focus, simplicity and clarity. We must challenge ourselves to build upon and honor our past without being constrained by it. This strategic plan sets the stage for the American Red Cross to establish its role to save and improve lives, one by one. We will be leaders in everything we do -- having chosen what we do carefully -- thereby strengthening every part of the organization. This Strategic Plan was developed using information gathered for the national campaign feasibility study, recent market research, demographic and trend analysis, and documentation from National Headquarters regarding their future expectations of strong field units. Discussions were held with senior management, key stakeholders, the Strategic Planning Committee, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. The duration of the plan is expected to be three to five years, depending on market evolution and the pace and success of implementation.
This plan is designed to unify the entire chapter and create symbiotic relationships between and among employees, volunteers, financial and blood donors, and our colleagues and neighbors throughout Ventura County. It is important to align the efforts throughout the organization toward the strategies described in this strategic plan. It is equally important to align our programs and services in ways that improve customer contact. Our future strength will be defined by the depth and breadth of our local relationships.
Successful implementation of the strategies described in this plan will be challenging, but they will have a profoundly positive impact on the American Red Cross of Ventura County and the public we serve. These strategies are interdependent with synergies among them and the risk that a shortfall in one initiative may affect the others. This chapter-wide strategic plan will be supported and reinforced by business plans for each enterprise. Our various departments must commit themselves to the development of unit-based goals, targets, and timelines that are consistent with this overall plan.
